Ralph Mcinerny - Thomism (27:50)

(approx. 12 megs each -  These downloads will only be available for one month.)
Make sure you subscribe to the EWTN XML feed with your iTunes or iPod.The renewed interest in the works of St. Thomas Aquinas in the early-to-mid 20th century produced a flowering of Catholic thought that formulated a coherent intellectual critique and alternative to modernity. But Thomism fell out of fashion after the Second Vatican Council as the perennial philosophy and leading intellectual framework for the Catholic synthesis of faith and reason. Today, however, Thomism is experiencing somewhat of a revival that can be attributed to the work of Thomists such as Ralph McInerny, a prominent Catholic author, professor and cultural commentator, who, among others, kept the flame of Thomism burning during the tumultuous intellectual milieu that followed the council. Ralph McInerny, who recently passed away on January 29, the day after the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, was a professor of philosophy and the Michael P. Grace Professor of Medieval Studies at the University of Notre Dame. He penned over two dozen scholarly books, many more scholarly essays, and over 80 novels. In this 13 part series he recorded with EWTN, Ralph McInerny explains as understandably as he can the main features of the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas.
