Rosary
Question from Brandon on 3/2/2004:

Fr. Bob,

Thank you so much for your ministry at EWTN. I love reading the forum and watching Web of Faith. My question is about priests and the rosary. It was recently brought to my attention that our priest doesn't regularly pray the rosary. I know he is a holy man and I thank God every day for our priests, but it just bothers me that he doesn't pray the rosary. He says that he doesn't pray it because he gets easily distracted.

Our Lady of Fatima, whose apparition is approved by the church, even said that we should pray the rosary every day. I know the Holy Father says to pray the rosary all the time, but is there anything that requires that priests say the rosary daily? Every priest must say certain prayers each day, so wouldn't the rosary fall in there somewhere. Anything would help ease my soul. Thank you and God Bless.

Answer by Fr. Robert J. Levis on 3/3/2004:

Dear Brandon, Your good priest would surely be even more holy and effective if he were to say the Rosary more often. Of course, it is a sacramental and no one is forced to say it, but what an inaction! Every priest must say the Canonical Hours, the official prayer of the Church, which your good Father does, I am sure. But give him to Mary and pray the Rosary for him. Fr. Bob Levis
