Question from kristy on 6/21/2006:

dear. Fr Robert Levise, I just heard on ewtn that when we are at mass, and when the priest holds up the Euchrist, we are standing at the foot of the cross with Mary Jesus' mother.since Jesus suffered for three hours on the cross then why is it we dont celebrate mass between 12:00am and 3:00pm. which is when Jesus suffered and died for us. why do we celebrate mass between 9:30 in the morning to 12:00 in the afternoon? another question I have is when adults get baptized to enter the catholic church if they have a mortal sin does that mortal sin go away, once we are baptized into the catholic church? God bless

kristy

Answer by Fr. Robert J. Levis on 6/22/2006:

Dear Kristy, Holy Mass is offerred at every hour across the globe, without exception. "From the rising of the sun to the setting thereof," Mass is being celebrated. Mass never stops, the action is continuous. When we celebrate in America, the East rests. When the East celebrates, we rest in America. There can be no special connection of Jerusalem time with American time. Baptism removes all sin from the soul of the neo-baptized. Fr. Bob Levis
