EWTN Catholic Q&A
The Church and Decriminalizing Homosexuality in Islamic Countries
Question from Anonymous on 05-10-2019:

Hi Judi, I wonder if you have recently heard that the Trump administration is trying to decriminalize homosexuality in countries like Iran https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/trump-admin-announces-global-push-to-decriminalize-homosexuality-report or https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/trump-administration-launches-global-effort-end-criminalization-homosexuality-n973081 Some people were outraged at this and Im not sure what a faithful Catholic should think about this. Mike Pence, who is a orthodox Christian and is regularly attacked by the LGBT for his beliefs said he was 'absolutely' onboard with this. This sorta comes as a surprise since Trump has been a great Pro-life, Pro-family president. From a Catholic perspective is this a good action on the part of the administration, or a bad action?

Dear Anonymous

I have never thought that Trump was in tune with Catholic teaching nor do I think that Pence is; they are involved on the world stage with some pretty horrific crimes against people of all persuasions so while LSN is attacking the president, I would personally stay out of this until I knew more, and since I don't, I have no clue what to tell you.

As far as I am concerned, nobody including an avowed homosexual should be defined as a criminal by the law. The laws of God are another matter entirely and that is not of concern apparently to president Trump.
