Associate Producer (News Nightly - Washington, D.C.)

JOB SUMMARY

TITLE:                  Associate Producer (News Nightly)

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Associate Producer will work with the Producer and the entire EWTN News Nightly editorial team to produce content with a strict deadline for a daily newscast.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce segments on national/international news that help viewers to understand the day’s news from a Catholic perspective.
  • Contribute to a lively, fast-paced newscast that includes news packages, voice overs, and discussion segments.
  • Act as fill-in line producer when needed.
  • Assist in writing scripts for newscast and TV news brief.
  • Assist in producing Rome/Vatican content.
  • Produce engaging content for broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Work with editors to facilitate production.
  • Watch and log video and sound for various events.
  • Communicate with production crew about executing the newscast.
  • Review and pull video for stories (packages and VOs) and monitor AP wires.
  • Assist in content for social media.
  • Visualize and order graphics.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in TV broadcast news, producing newscasts in medium or large markets.
  • Possess solid news judgement and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to visually and creatively tell a story and engage viewers using graphics and other elements.
  • Experience utilizing broadcast software programs (i.e., iNews, AP ENPS).
  • Excellent broadcast writing skills.

  • Gather, produce, and present news packages, VOs, VOSOTs, demonstrating knowledge of current events and public policy from a Catholic perspective.
  • Pitch original story ideas at daily editorial meetings that examine the intersection of Catholic Social Teaching and public policy.
  • Develop sources and contacts in Washington, D.C. and around the country.
  • Collaborate with the editorial and technical teams to provide all appropriate elements for stories (i.e. photos, videos, and graphics).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

REPORTS TO:    Viewer Services Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Viewer Services Manager, this position responds to customer inquiries and performs a variety of duties related to Customer Service in accordance with Network policies and procedures. Develops and maintains rapport with customers (via phone, letter, or e-mail) and works to give them the best possible service in both a timely and courteous manner.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives, researches, and answers customer inquiries and requests (written or telephone) regarding order status, changes, adjustments, and cancellations.
  • Works with customers to offer alternatives to resolve problems.
  • Receives, researches and answers phone centers requests and inquiries.
  • Inputs credit cards and researches all declined credit card customers to verify card number, expiration date, etc.
  • Accesses computer system to retrieve customer information, status of orders, make changes on the customer’s order and input credit card and check customer names into the donor file.  Ensures that correct information is used for retrieving and inputting of data.
  • Receives and answers inquiries from other departments regarding Customer Service responsibilities.
  • Follows up on customer inquiries and research to assure satisfactory completion of order.
  • Completes entry of Internet orders on a daily basis.
  • Enters Spanish web orders manually.
  • Informs Viewer Services Manager or Director of Viewer Services of customer-identified damaged merchandise problems and coordinates all customer information (credit and customer file) to reflect this transaction.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and present solutions relating to potential customer service problem areas.
  • Identifies needs and makes recommendations regarding revisions to policy and procedure.
  • Remains current on changes in policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Prepares routine reports and assists the Assistant Buyer and Viewer Services Manager with special projects as needed.
  • Directs inquiries from customers not related to Religious Catalogue activities to the appropriate department.
  • Perform month-end procedures via Ability Commerce.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Director of Safety and Security oversees the administration of the safety and security program for all domestic Network facilities and locations in order to provide a safe and secure work environment for all employees, guests, pilgrims, and visitors. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Network safety and security efforts in planning, implementation, threat detection, risk mitigation, and response.
  • Provide guidance to senior management in identifying and assessing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, risks, vulnerabilities and threats that could affect network operations.
  • Provide leadership and expertise on all areas of safety and security.
  • With the VP of HR and CEO, develop plans for achieving strategic goals for the organization relative to safety and security.
  • Create and oversee budget.
  • Develop and administer safety and security compliance programs; provide continuous analysis, interpretation, resolution and implementation of programs.
  • Interpret federal and state regulations concerning safety and security compliance programs; review proposed legislation and regulations and respond to agencies, federal, and other regulatory and accreditation entities; and update necessary policies.
  • Benchmark with other organizations to utilize best practices and principles in the area of security and risk management.
  • Foster relationships with Federal, State and Local agencies in the areas of emergency services, law enforcement, and regulatory/compliance while serving the needs of the Network.
  • Oversee the investigation and correction of all security and safety issues.
  • Manage safety and security investigations, compliance audits, and security inspections by government agencies.
  • Work with Human Resources to administer OSHA reporting and compliance.
  • Hire, train, evaluate and lead all security staff and organization personnel with security duties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 7 – 10+ years’ experience in law enforcement, military or security, with at least 5 years serving in a Manager or Director level role in an organization.
  • Experience leading the development and implementation of plans for emergency response, safety and security. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively hire, motivate and lead a team. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as effective interpersonal skills.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Fulfillment Center Manager, participates in all areas of order fulfillment including picking, packing & shipping. Fills a supporting role in warehouse operations, maintaining inventory integrity, labeling, shrink wrapping, and quality control.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Picks customer orders according to picklists verifying accuracy using RF device and determines appropriate shipping container for each request.
  • Packs each order once picking is complete, verifying accuracy and quality of product. Provides adequate packaging for each order for safe transit to customer.

  • Participates in final shipping by processing completed packages using Order Management System or third party shipping software according to carrier requirements. Prepares shipments for daily pickup.

  • Supports daily fulfillment operations by making boxes, restocking, repackaging, and labeling product as requested.

  • Assists in end to end fulfillment & shipping of EWTN donor order requests, donation acknowledgements, and outbound network mail.

  • Prunes shrubs and trees, rakes bags and removes dead shrubs, fallen leaves, branches and twigs.
  • Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides.
  • Cleans grounds and removes litter.
  • Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs.
  • Repairs and conducts preventative maintenance on all ground keeping tools and equipment to ensure they are running correctly.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 1 year ground keeping experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides policy guidance, interpretation and assistance in implementing all procedures and programs.
  • Collaborates with hiring managers to determine staffing needs, review job descriptions and outline success profiles.  Interviews and screens applicants and provides guidance to managers on interviewing, selection and hiring practices.

  • Supports and assists in implementing organizational change initiatives aligned with the Network’s mission.
  • May conduct new employee Orientation and/or assist with process.
  • Assists in identifying and implementing training needs.
  • Reviews and recommends process improvements to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Maintains immigration records and assists as needed.
  • Participates in HR team initiatives and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ Human Resources experience at the Generalist/Manager level with proven ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be well versed in employment laws and regulations and maintain current knowledge of all changes and trends. 
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to inspire confidence and trust.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The IT Support Technician II will be responsible for the set-up and maintenance of hardware and software, including the following OS platforms: Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10, and latest Mac OS.  Will provide a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance within the EWTN Network Environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, upgrade, support and troubleshoot printers, computer hardware, mobile devices, Windows 7 & 10 OS, Office 2013/2016 and other authorized desktop applications and peripheral equipment.
  • Troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via remote access) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide direct end user assistance where required
  • Install, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade hardware and equipment (including but not limited to PCs, laptops, printers, scanners and cell phones) to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform general preventative maintenance tasks on computers, laptops, printers, and any other authorized peripheral equipment unless prohibited by existing customer warranties
  • Responsible for monitoring, operating, managing, troubleshooting and restoring service to client personal computers (PCs) or laptops that have authorized access to the network
  • Anticipate trends by monitoring and analyzing incoming calls, problems, and support requests.

  • Clean and repair computer hardware, such as keyboards and printers.

  • Makes sure program videos get to TOC and then to dub station for transcription.
  • Catalogs IP tapes to be stored offsite.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The On-Air Graphic Designer works with the Creative Services Director on the design of Graphic packages for production including: animated opening sequences, title designs, name keys, end bumpers, and other elements depending on needs of the project.   • Concept and design animated graphics packages for productions, promotions, or any other assigned project.  Package usually includes: opening sequence with typography design, bumps, credit bed, name bar, full screen graphics page, and bug.
  • Ability to incorporate creative elements quickly, which enhance and are sensitive to the mission of the Network.
  • Communicates concepts through storyboards for approvals before project starts.
  • Familiarity with stock footage or photography in our library and stock footage or photos for purchase to utilize in project.
  • Provide information & elements to Editor assigned to the project
  • Setup and operate live show and live-to-tape Computer Graphics for weekly live productions, series and special events.
  • Design materials for printed use on sets, collateral or Home Video designs.
  • Takes direction from Creative Director on look of design and projects, daily priorities and scheduling of projects.
  • Organizes arrangements as necessary to shoot video in collaboration with Production Coordinator & Producer.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The EWTN Security Officer provides campus presence and surveillance to ensure the safety and security of all employees, guests and visitors.  Patrols network grounds on a continuous basis and offers assistance and information to the general public.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs campus surveillance by vehicle or walking to ensure security and watches for situations that could result in injury or loss due to potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Screens all vehicles at the Network entrances and monitors activity at or near assigned post.  Maintains a sense of vigilance for undesirable, dangerous, or counterproductive activities or individuals.
  • Monitors camera activity, fire protection systems and other devices from a control room and dispatches calls as necessary.
  • Relays critical information to other security personnel as necessary.
  • Provides accurate and timely written or verbal information/instruction to all vendors, visitors, pilgrims, or anyone conducting business with the Network.
  • Reviews and has personal knowledge of the Safety and Security daily postings and instructions.
  • Initiates emergency 911 calls as appropriate and directs emergency vehicles to proper location on site.
  • Administers First Aid, CPR, basic emergency assistance to employees and guests as needed.
  • Completes incident and accident report forms as necessary.
  • Transports guests to and from the Birmingham airport.
  • Communicates with and assists other Network departments whenever special instructions for guests or visitors are required.  Assists with pilgrims if necessary.
  • Directs traffic for special functions and some live show events.
  • Participates in department training and drills as necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the security, law enforcement or military field.
  • Possess valid Alabama State Driver’s License.
  • Possess valid State of Alabama pistol permit (semi-automatic 9mm or larger).
  • Qualify at a minimum of 70% on the “A.P.O.S.T.” Commission firearm certification.
  • Possess up to date First Aid and CPR certification or be willing to obtain within 90 days of hire date.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA & NFPA codes and standards.

  • Drive ENN crew vehicles.
