Administrative Assistant (Birmingham, AL)

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Administrative Assistant for the Religious Catalogue department, you will perform administrative duties to support the day-to-day needs of the department. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Greet visitors to Religious Catalogue and answers general questions.
  • Receive and screen telephone calls, open incoming mail and route in a timely manner. 
  • Process mail orders; Enter DIV 02 orders.
  • Print new orders (packing slips) and distribute to warehouse as needed. 
  • Process all NSF check payments.
  • Enter all Amazon Orders.
  • Daily Deposit Reconciliation and submission, including ACH Transfer payments.
  • Maintain record of all product losses encountered during shipment (lost/damaged etc.); file insurance claims with carriers.
  • Maintain department expense files.
  • Maintain tax-exempt records and update statuses.
  • Print Invoices and Monthly Statements for Term Accounts. 
  • Process Gift Shoppe item transfer requests as needed. 
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies, kitchen and cleaning supplies. 
  • Make travel arrangements for Catalogue personnel as needed.
  • Assist in entering and fulfilling printed catalog requests.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 1 - 3 years of administrative office experience.
  • You possess strong computer skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), with high proficiency in Excel spreadsheet skills.
  • You have excellent oral & written communication skills, with a professional and approachable demeanor and strong customer service skills.

Advancement Services Specialist (Birmingham, AL)

ADVANCEMENT SERVICES SPECIALIST

How You Will Impact the Big Picture:

As the Advancement Services Specialist, you will perform a variety of routine, standardized clerical or operational support duties across Mission Advancement Services. The specific duties assigned each day will vary based on the volume and workflow needs within the department.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

  • Perform print center work: prepare and process Mission Advancement printing, including, but not limited to, acknowledgements, tax statements, welcome kits, packing slips and more.
  • Operate computer, printer, inserter, sealer, scanner and other related standard office and processing equipment; verify documents, print & mail center work for accuracy and completeness, performing research, documenting printed package counts.
  • Sort, open, review and prepare incoming mailed donor correspondence and donations for imaging or separate processing as required.
  • Scan check and other donation correspondence utilizing high-speed imaging equipment.
  • Regularly clean printing, mailing and imaging equipment and clear jams as necessary.
  • Physically sort, count and prepare spoiled postage envelopes for USPS credit.
  • Process donation using the Mavro Imaging system and the EWTN fundraising CRM.
  • Review, quality check, match, update, and import various gift batches into CRM database.
  • Update donor records with changes requested via returned mail, phone calls, emails and letters following established workflow guidelines and business rules.
  • Research donor information upon request within the CRM database.
  • Maintain confidentiality & security of donor information, EWTN fundraising performance & methods.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have Experience with databases or knowledge of database and imaging software applications.
  • You have strong data entry skills and computer software experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • You possess excellent verbal & written communication skills; exemplify well developed organizational skills & attention to detail.
  • You are adaptable, able to adjust to changing circumstances; willing to learn new technological skills.
  • You hold a High school diploma or GED.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • You have prior experience working in a print shop, mailroom, or imaging center including working with printers, scanners and mail distributions systems
  • You have a minimum 1-2 years of fundraising donation processing or data entry experience and are familiar with database software such as Virtuous, Mavro, RaiseDonors and BeenVerified.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER (EWTN News Programming)

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As an Associate Producer with EWTN News, you will work with editorial teams to produce content with a strict deadline for a daily and weekly newscasts. This role will also collaborate with and support the production of all shows across EWTN News, as needed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Contribute to a lively, fast-paced newscast that includes writing news packages, voiceovers, teases, and discussion segments; assists in writing scripts for newscasts and TV news briefs.
  • Pitch story and guest ideas to team; book guests and coordinate all necessary details.

  • Watch and log video and sound for various events.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Digital Media Manager, you will work with various agency teams to create compelling content for digital platforms (including but not limited to websites, apps, and social media), manage the Editors Service, as well as social media accounts executing the News digital strategy. This role will also serve as backup for the Director of Digital Strategy & Social Media when needed. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Execute strategies that build brand awareness and increase audience acquisition/web traffic; create new/original multimedia content for websites and social media posts.
  • Collaborate with editors to obtain photos and video content to accompany social media and website posts; review and copy edit content on a daily basis.
  • Upload content and execute search engine and social media optimization for content on digital platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others.

  • You have a minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience managing social media content and strategies in a professional environment, preferably within the field of journalism.
  • You have at least 1 – 2 years of prior experience in a management role, preferably in a newsroom environment.
  • You are a practicing Catholic in good standing, possessing a proficient knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic Church with the ability to apply that knowledge to News coverage.

As the Donor Correspondence Specialist, you will deliver excellent donor care through email or other written correspondence by appropriately answering questions, resolving issues, updating automatic donation schedules and taking written prayer requests for our benefactors. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Monitor, sort and triage the Mission Advancement email inbox and designated Mavro Connect workflows in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Ensure donors are aware of various donation methods to EWTN.
  • Appropriately respond to donors’ written inquiries.
  • Evaluate and resolve donor and donation issues, including but not limited to, making donations, making address changes, identifying duplicate accounts, removing donors from mailing lists and coding deceased benefactor accounts.
  • Appropriately decide when to escalate complex donor matters to management for resolution.
  • Participate in ongoing formation and education around excellence in donor care and philanthropy best practices.
  • Safeguard benefactor information and strictly maintain donor privacy.
  • Respectfully and appropriately route written prayer requests.
  • Route incoming correspondence to appropriate EWTN departments as needed.
  • Occasionally be available during peak donor call traffic to assist in answering calls

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of two years of customer service experience.
  • You are familiar with fundraising principles and best practices.
  • You are a practicing Catholic with demonstrated knowledge of the Catholic Faith and EWTN’s mission.
  • You possess excellent verbal communication skills, proper grammar, and a patient and helpful disposition.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Donor Experience Specialist, you’ll support EWTN’s goal to provide our donors with a meaningful faith and giving journey. As the Donor Experience Specialist, you’ll make outbound calls to express gratitude on behalf of the organization and warmly thank our donors for their contributions, and from the guidance of a script, share EWTN resources that may be helpful in enhancing their spiritual and giving journey. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Make routine outbound calls to thank and welcome donors.
  • Respond to donor inquiries by referring them to online resources or transfer them to the appropriate source.
  • At the request of the donor, update contact information to their record.
  • Provide regular feedback on the new donor workflow to the Donor Experience Manager.
  • Working with the Donor Experience Manager, adjust telephone scripts for outbound calls as needed.
  • Provide input on stewardship material.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), especially telephone communication skills, preferably outbound.
  • You have customer service or donor relations experience.
  • You are a practicing Catholic with knowledge of the faith and commitment to EWTN’s mission.

As an EWTN Full Stack Developer, you will be responsible for EWTN’s frontend and backend development for its various sites and web applications ensuring seamless integration and efficient performance across the entire software stack.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers and other internal and external developers, to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • You will develop user-friendly, responsive web applications using the latest frontend technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.

Staff Writer (Washington DC - onsite)

STAFF WRITER

Full-time, onsite in Washington, D.C. Not remote-eligible. 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Staff Writer, you will produce news articles and other reporting for the National Catholic Register’s print and online versions, as assigned by the Register’s editors, and in accordance with their style and mission

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Research, plan, and write articles assigned by the Editor in Chief or other designated editor.
  • Conduct interviews and follow up with sources.
  • Proactively pitch compelling, timely and newsworthy stories, demonstrating knowledge of current events, Catholic news, and the Register’s audience.
  • Employ creative solutions to common story problems, such as trouble reaching sources, tight deadlines, lack of art, etc.
  • Assist in production tasks, such as editing, proofreading, headline writing, selecting art and posting content and social media, as requested.
  • Attend events to cover assignments or to keep abreast of industry trends and technologies.
  • Collaborate with EWTN News’ television and radio broadcast teams, including availability for on-camera or on-air reporting, as requested.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 3-5 years of prior experience in journalism or communications, emphasis on newswriting for digital platforms; prior newsroom experience is preferred.
  • You possess strong writing skills and knowledge of journalistic style and ethics.
  • You are familiar with contemporary social, political, and religious issues and have the capacity for analyzing events in relationship to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • You are a practicing Catholic with demonstrated understanding of the Catholic Church and relevant topics and how it relates to EWTN News’ Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • You possess excellent communication, interpersonal & organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • You are self-motivated with proven ability to meet deadlines as assigned; ability to prioritize and multi-task at a high level and can quickly adapt to changing priorities.
  • You are very proficient in Microsoft Office, web-based applications, and have experience using a web content management system.
  • You have experience operating audio and video recording equipment and software
  • Intermediate skills in photo editing is strongly preferred.
  • You are able to work a flexible schedule to meet news deadlines as necessary; willing and able to travel domestically for on-the-ground reporting in consideration of news coverage.
  • You hold a bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or other relevant field is required.

Studio Technician (Washington, D.C.)

STUDIO TECHNICIAN

Full-time, onsite in Washington, D.C. Not remote-eligible. 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Studio Technician, you will be responsible for the technical setup and operation of all production functions in the studio or in the field. You will work in other production crew positions as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • You will coordinate with the Director, Audio Technician and the Studio Operations Manager on studio setup required for productions.
  • You will assist in studio set changes, wiring guests for audio, and operating lighting board.
  • You will set up on-location cameras, Skype and satellite interviews.
  • You will back up the Digital Asset Manager and assist with capturing live feeds and downloading footage for broadcasts.
  • You will work closely with the Engineering Manager to maintain and upgrade all aspects of the studio and broadcast facilities.
  • You will assist with field productions.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in TV broadcast/cable production or related field.
  • You are proficient with robotic camera systems and are experienced with professional control room equipment, (switchers, tape operation, graphics, and teleprompter software).
  • Experience or knowledge of the following are highly preferred; Avid infrastructure, technical directing, electrical engineering.
  • You possess excellent organizational & communication skills with strong attention to detail and follow through.
  • You are able to work a flexible schedule when necessary.
  • You must possess a working knowledge of the Catholic Faith and alignment with EWTN’s mission.
  • You hold an Associate’s degree in Electronics, Communications, or TV Production.
