Hebrews 12:4-7, 11-15
4In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
5And have you forgotten the exhortation which addresses you as sons?— “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor lose courage when you are punished by him.
6For the Lord disciplines him whom he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
7It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?
11For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant; later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
12Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees,
13and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.
14Strive for peace with all men, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
15See to it that no one fail to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” spring up and cause trouble, and by it the many become defiled;

Mark 6:1-6
1He went away from there and came to his own country; and his disciples followed him.
2And on the sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue; and many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get all this? What is the wisdom given to him? What mighty works are wrought by his hands!
3Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
4And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.”
5And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands upon a few sick people and healed them.
6And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went about among the villages teaching.

Isaiah 52:7-10
7How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings, who publishes peace, who brings good tidings of good, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
8Hark, your watchmen lift up their voice, together they sing for joy; for eye to eye they see the return of the LORD to Zion.
9Break forth together into singing, you waste places of Jerusalem; for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.
10The LORD has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

1When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.

Matthew 10:16-25
16“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
17Beware of men; for they will deliver you up to councils, and flog you in their synagogues,
18and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear testimony before them and the Gentiles.
19When they deliver you up, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour;
20for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
21Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death;
22and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
23When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next; for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel, before the Son of man comes.
24“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master;
25it is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Be-elʹzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.
