1 Timothy 3:14-16
14I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these instructions to you so that,
15if I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.
16Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of our religion: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

Psalms 111:1-6
1Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
2Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who have pleasure in them.
3Full of honor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures for ever.
4He has caused his wonderful works to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and merciful.
5He provides food for those who fear him; he is ever mindful of his covenant.

Luke 7:31-35
31“To what then shall I compare the men of this generation, and what are they like?
32They are like children sitting in the market place and calling to one another, ‘We piped to you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not weep.’
33For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine; and you say, ‘He has a demon.’
34The Son of man has come eating and drinking; and you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
35Yet wisdom is justified by all her children.”
First Reading
2 Corinthians 4:7-15
7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us.
8We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;
9persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
10always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
11For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
12So death is at work in us, but life in you.
13Since we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we too believe, and so we speak,
14knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence.
15For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

1When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.
2Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”

John 17:11-19
11And now I am no more in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name, which thou hast given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.
12While I was with them, I kept them in thy name, which thou hast given me; I have guarded them, and none of them is lost but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13But now I am coming to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14I have given them thy word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15I do not pray that thou shouldst take them out of the world, but that thou shouldst keep them from the evil one.
16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17Sanctify them in the truth; thy word is truth.
18As thou didst send me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.
19And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be consecrated in truth.
