Acts 16:11-15

11Setting sail therefore from Troʹas, we made a direct voyage to Samʹothrace, and the following day to Ne-apʹolis,
12and from there to Philippi, which is the leading city of the district of Macedoʹnia, and a Roman colony. We remained in this city some days;
13and on the sabbath day we went outside the gate to the riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together.
14One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatiʹra, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to give heed to what was said by Paul.
15And when she was baptized, with her household, she besought us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us.

Responsorial Psalm

Psalms 149:1-6, 9

1Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful!
2Let Israel be glad in his Maker, let the sons of Zion rejoice in their King!
3Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with timbrel and lyre!
4For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with victory.
5Let the faithful exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their couches.
6Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands,
9to execute on them the judgment written! This is glory for all his faithful ones. Praise the LORD!

John 15:26--16:4

15
26But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me;
27and you also are witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning.
16
1“I have said all this to you to keep you from falling away.
2They will put you out of the synagogues; indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.
3And they will do this because they have not known the Father, nor me.
4But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you of them. “I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.

1 John 5:1-5

1Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God, and every one who loves the parent loves the child.
2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments.
3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
4For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith.
5Who is it that overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Responsorial Psalm

Psalms 37:3-6, 30-31

3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so you will dwell in the land, and enjoy security.
4Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.
6He will bring forth your vindication as the light, and your right as the noonday.
30The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.
31The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.

Gospel

Matthew 10:22-25

22and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
23When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next; for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel, before the Son of man comes.
24“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master;
25it is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Be-elʹzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.
