Ecclesiastes 1:2-11
2Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.
3What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun?
4A generation goes, and a generation comes, but the earth remains for ever.
5The sun rises and the sun goes down, and hastens to the place where it rises.
6The wind blows to the south, and goes round to the north; round and round goes the wind, and on its circuits the wind returns.
7All streams run to the sea, but the sea is not full; to the place where the streams flow, there they flow again.
8All things are full of weariness; a man cannot utter it; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
9What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; and there is nothing new under the sun.
10Is there a thing of which it is said, “See, this is new”? It has been already, in the ages before us.

9Herod said, “John I beheaded; but who is this about whom I hear such things?” And he sought to see him.

1 Corinthians 1:26-31
26For consider your call, brethren; not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth;
27but God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong,
28God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are,
29so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
30He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom, our righteousness and sanctification and redemption;
31therefore, as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast of the Lord.”

Matthew 9:35-38
35And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every infirmity.
36When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
37Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
38pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
