Genesis 1:1-19

1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.
3And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
4And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.
5God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
6And God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”
7And God made the firmament and separated the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament. And it was so.
8And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
9And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so.
10God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.
11And God said, “Let the earth put forth vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, upon the earth.” And it was so.
12The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
13And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.
14And God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years,
15and let them be lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so.
16And God made the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; he made the stars also.
17And God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth,
18to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
19And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

Responsorial Psalm

Psalms 104:1-2, 5-6, 10, 12, 24, 35

1Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, thou art very great! Thou art clothed with honor and majesty,
2who coverest thyself with light as with a garment, who hast stretched out the heavens like a tent,
5Thou didst set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be shaken.
6Thou didst cover it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.
10Thou makest springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills,
12By them the birds of the air have their habitation; they sing among the branches.
24O LORD, how manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou made them all; the earth is full of thy creatures.
35Let sinners be consumed from the earth, and let the wicked be no more! Bless the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD!

Gospel

Mark 6:53-56

53And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesʹaret, and moored to the shore.
54And when they got out of the boat, immediately the people recognized him,
55and ran about the whole neighborhood and began to bring sick people on their pallets to any place where they heard he was.
56And wherever he came, in villages, cities, or country, they laid the sick in the market places, and besought him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment; and as many as touched it were made well.

Isaiah 66:10-14

10“Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice with her in joy, all you who mourn over her;
11that you may suck and be satisfied with her consoling breasts; that you may drink deeply with delight from the abundance of her glory.”
12For thus says the LORD: “Behold, I will extend prosperity to her like a river, and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing stream; and you shall suck, you shall be carried upon her hip, and dandled upon her knees.
13As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
14You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice; your bones shall flourish like the grass; and it shall be known that the hand of the LORD is with his servants, and his indignation is against his enemies.

Responsorial Psalm

Judith 13:18-19

18And Uzziʹah said to her, “O daughter, you are blessed by the Most High God above all women on earth; and blessed be the Lord God, who created the heavens and the earth, who has guided you to strike the head of the leader of our enemies.
19Your hope will never depart from the hearts of men, as they remember the power of God.

Gospel

John 2:1-11

1On the third day there was a marriage at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there;
2Jesus also was invited to the marriage, with his disciples.
3When the wine failed, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”
4And Jesus said to her, “O woman, what have you to do with me? My hour has not yet come.”
5His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
6Now six stone jars were standing there, for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.
7Jesus said to them, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.
8He said to them, “Now draw some out, and take it to the steward of the feast.” So they took it.
9When the steward of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the steward of the feast called the bridegroom
10and said to him, “Every man serves the good wine first; and when men have drunk freely, then the poor wine; but you have kept the good wine until now.”
11This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
