Christ the King Abbey

Author: Bishop David E. Foley

Christ the King Abbey, Cullman, AL

Before the death of the founder, Fr. Leonard Giardina, OSB, the monks of Christ the King began a process of reconciliation with Bishop Robert Baker of Birmingham in Alabama. This was completed during Lent 2011 and two monks remain as Benedictine hermits. Several other monks, and all the sisters of St. Joseph’s Convent, who did not want to be reconciled, have left.

Original judgment of Bishop David Foley
