Meatballs and Tomato Sauce

Ingredients - Meatballs:

1 lb Ground Sweet Italian Sausage

1lb Ground Beef

½ cup Diced Sweet Onion

2 Garlic Cloves (minced)

2 tsp Italian Seasoning

1-2 Tbs Whole Milk

1 tsp Kosher Salt

1 Egg

½ cup Italian Bread Crumbs

Ingredients - Tomato Sauce:

2 Tbs Olive Oil

2 (28oz) can San Marzano Tomatoes

1 Diced Yellow Onion

1 Garlic (minced)

¼ cup White Wine

½ cup Chicken Broth

3 Tbs Basil, chiffonade

1/8 tsp Red Pepper Flakes

1 Tbs Black Pepper

1 Tbs Salt

                                                            

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F
  2. In a large bowl combine sausage, beef, onion, and garlic, Italian season, milk, salt breadcrumbs and eggs.
  3. Mold into 1 ½ - 2 inch balls and place into a cool non-stick pan to start. Saute the meatballs and finish in the oven at 375 F for 10-15 mins.
  4. In a large saucepot add in 2 tbsp’s of olive oil. Add in the garlic and saute, be careful not to burn the garlic.
  5. Add in the tomatoes and stir. Cook over med high for 20 mins until sauce starts to thicken. Taste as adjust your seasoning with salt and pepper.
  6. Pull the meatballs from the oven and plate over over some pasta or on a plate and serve as an appetizer.
