Meatballs and Tomato Sauce

Ingredients - Meatballs:
1 lb Ground Sweet Italian Sausage
1lb Ground Beef
½ cup Diced Sweet Onion
2 Garlic Cloves (minced)
2 tsp Italian Seasoning
1-2 Tbs Whole Milk
1 tsp Kosher Salt
1 Egg
½ cup Italian Bread Crumbs
Ingredients - Tomato Sauce:
2 Tbs Olive Oil
2 (28oz) can San Marzano Tomatoes
1 Diced Yellow Onion
1 Garlic (minced)
¼ cup White Wine
½ cup Chicken Broth
3 Tbs Basil, chiffonade
1/8 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
1 Tbs Black Pepper
1 Tbs Salt
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375 F
- In a large bowl combine sausage, beef, onion, and garlic, Italian season, milk, salt breadcrumbs and eggs.
- Mold into 1 ½ - 2 inch balls and place into a cool non-stick pan to start. Saute the meatballs and finish in the oven at 375 F for 10-15 mins.
- In a large saucepot add in 2 tbsp’s of olive oil. Add in the garlic and saute, be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Add in the tomatoes and stir. Cook over med high for 20 mins until sauce starts to thicken. Taste as adjust your seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Pull the meatballs from the oven and plate over over some pasta or on a plate and serve as an appetizer.
