Apostolic Journey of His Holiness to the Republic of Korea, 13-18 August 2014

Pope Francis

Marking his third international pilgrimage, the Pope's visit to this Asian country is occasioned by the 6th Asian Youth Day, as well as the beatification of 124 Korean martyrs. In a video message (published 11 August) addressed to the people of Korea, the Holy Father said, "Arise, shine!" (Is 60, 1): with these words with which the Prophet called on Jerusalem, I'm calling on you. And it is the Lord who invites you all to welcome his light, to welcome it into your heart, and to reflect on it through a life full of faith, hope and love, full of the joy of the Gospel."
