In an address to Catholics of the Archdiocese of Denver, Colorado, dated 25 August 2008, Archbishop Charles Chaput took exception to remarks made by Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, on the television program, Meet the Press, 24 August. Speaker Pelosi, on being questioned about her divergence from Catholic teaching on the grave moral error of procured abortion, claimed that the historical uncertainty among Doctors of the Church as to when life begins in the womb left intact a "woman's right to choose." Archbishop Chaput corrects her misinformation on this issue.
